Who is this for? The packages listed are for you if you are new to salsa dancing or have taken a few classes and are ready to get a stronger foundation. The Fawakaa System has been designed to do a lot of things, and in order for us to deliver on our promise everyone needs to start from the beginning. There are things I wish I knew when I got started, and in cycle #1 we start out with the most important pieces of information that almost no one ever learns when taking Salsa classes. I didn’t learn until the majority of what you’ll get in Cycle #1 until I had been dancing for more than 6 years.

Who is this NOT for?
This is not for you if you have been dancing salsa for a long time. If you can do an inside turn, outside turn, double spin, and connect with you partner on a strong level then this may not be right for you. We intend to teach the Fawakaa Dance System/syllabus starting from the basics. no exceptions. However, if you have been taking classes and realize you still can’t count the beat, lead comfortably, or do a proper basic whenever you want then you can come check us out. How long are each of the cycles?
These are estimates of how long you could expect to be in a cycle.
- Cycle #1 is 1 month long
- Cycle #2 is 2 months long
- Cycle #3 is 3 months long

- Cycle #6 is 1 year long

Do I need a partner to sign up?
No, we rotate partners so everyone can improve faster by being faced with different situations. Each leader and follower will be different and your ability to adapt quickly will be improved by rotating.

Do you offer more than one level at this time?
Yes. We currently offer Cycle #1 and Cycle #2 Classes. However, all new students are required to begin with Cycle #1.

Are walk-ins available? How much does it cost?
Yes, but I prefer not to have people dropping in at random during a cycle because it will interrupt what we have come together to accomplish. If you choose to do a drop in, the rate is $20 per class. You can always wait until the next Cycle #1 session starts to join the classes.

What is the parking situation like?
There is two hour parking available across the street on Broadway (odd numbered side across from the fire dept. and in front of Foss Park). There is also metered parking on Broadway which is free after 8pm and all day Sundays.

What is a Fawakaa private lesson like?
A Fawakaa private lesson is 90 minutes long and is designed to help you improve in a more personal setting. Everything changes from the teaching style, to the speed, to the areas that we focus on based on your specific way of processing information (i.e. look up Howard Gardner if you want to know the nitty gritty).

What should I wear?
We ask that you wear clothes that you are comfortable moving in and possibly sweating in. You do not need to own a pair of salsa shoes to start dancing. For your first classes wear shoes that are comfortable and that will not damage or hurt your feet.
Rubber sole Sneakers are not recommended because the rubber may make it hard to turn.
